Come home to a warm, delicious meal at the end of a chilly day with only a little prep time in the morning! It'll quickly become one of your favorite Slow Cooker Chicken recipes!
Lately, we've been running into a problem here. My internal clock is all messed up and I suddenly realize I haven't started dinner yet about 10 minutes before we should be eating. To combat this issue, I decided to break out the slow cooker.
By getting dinner in the Crock-Pot in the morning, I'm able to focus on other things and still have a healthy dinner in the evening!
Slow Cooker Chicken Soup
You'll need:
- Chicken Breast
- Carrots
- Celery stalks
- Onion
- Garlic
- Tomatoes
- Potatoes medium
- Chicken Stock
- Water
- Sage, dried
- Thyme, dried
- Salt
- Pepper
Start by cutting your chicken (or turkey) into cubes, then put them in the crockpot. If you don't have a crockpot, I highly recommend this one! It works great for my larger family and has a locking lid so you can take it to family dinners without any mess!
Now, time to get busy cutting. Dice the onions & potatoes. Slice the carrots & celery. Throw them in the crockpot. Mince some garlic and add it in too. You can also cheat and use the jarred minced garlic. I always keep one in the fridge for when I'm in a big hurry (or feeling a little lazy!) to save time.
Add your chicken stock, water, and any herbs your family enjoys. I like to add a teaspoon of dried sage, about 1/2 tsp dried thyme, salt, and pepper, so I put that in the printable recipe below, but don't be afraid to play around with your own favorites!

Crock pot food is awesome because it takes minimal management to cook! 🙂 Thanks for sharing all these recipes. Looks delicious!
very nice recipe that every one should try at home ..
Thanks so much for this recipe!!! I’m allergic to wheat (the whole thing not just gluten) and rice, which means most chicken soup recipes I find I have to sub in corn pasta – which is very expensive. My daughter is sick so I’ve been searching for a”feel better” soup for her. This will feed us both! ❤️
Looks beautiful and delicious! I do some prep ahead meals but not that many. I think this is very worthwhile and nice to know you always have a meal on hand!
