Hot Chocolate Play Dough | Sensory Activities for Children

Hot Chocolate Playdough is a fun option when you need sensory activities for children. It lets them get their hands messy with a fun winter smell.  Playdough is one of our favorite art activities because it is so versatile, but I'm not a fan of the smell.  Using hot cocoa (or many other drinks) brings a new layer of fun and is a great base for a sensory bin! Playdough is a ...

No Cook Play-Dough

Every once in awhile, I'll cheat and buy a fit that comes with Playdough and tools, but when its gone we make our own.  I'm sure I have a dozen recipes hiding somewhere in our house, but I didn't feel like spending all day hunting (and getting sidetracked on a cleaning/decluttering mission) so I looked online.  I found an easy No Cook Playdough Recipe from Playdoughrecipe.com that looked very ...

Instagram post 2190314447524119958_347852192 We decorated the tree, while on video call with my fiance. Since he won't be here until later this month, the kids had him direct them on where to put some of the ornament. Then they went a bit hog wild finishing on their own.

I love how technology lets us connect even when we are 3800 miles apart!

Instagram post 2110378923194958566_347852192 He's on his way!  The kids and I are super excited!  Will be spending most of the day in the car to go pick him up from the MSP airport, but we will have 3 weeks before he flies back to Scotland!

This is one of the last pictures of us we took while I was there in June. It's been 7 weeks and 2 days since we said goodbye. Cannot wait until we close the gap permanently!

In the meantime, we will enjoy the 3 weeks we have as a family!

Instagram post 2108909218974288273_347852192 I've started getting up at 6 am for a quick workout every morning.  Overslept one day and energy level was way low all day.
This is my motivation - I like making exercise (and health in general) a priority now, so I'm less likely to have issues later!

What motivates you? Whether it's to work out, get more organized, eat healthier - I wanna know what keeps you going every day!

Instagram post 2105290421222544762_347852192 "Always kiss your children goodnight, even if they're already asleep." ~ H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

This is one of my favorite quotes. Hugs and kisses are something I've grown to cherish even more as my oldest hits those early teen years. Having all boys makes it hard to compare, but I think boys "grow out" of hugging & kissing their parents earlier than girls.

Do you still hug & kiss your parents? Was there a time you were "too cool" to hug your parents goodbye/goodnight?
Instagram post 2103843921896658993_347852192 We are focusing on being conscious of the joy in the NOW.  There is always something to look forward to - oldest turns 14 and gets driver's permit/first job, fiance is coming to visit in 9 days, we start back to school next week, etc.

But it's important not to let the focus on the future take away from the joy in every moment.
Do you live in the moment or are you looking to the future?  How do you balance the 2?
