- 1 pound bag of White sugar
- 1 pound bag of Ground Coffee
- 1 small bottle of Light Olive Oil, coconut oil, or almond oil
- Sea Salt
- 1-2 Ripe bananas
- 1-2 Avocado
- 1-2 Citrus Fruits (orange, lemon, or lime)
- Small Mixing Bowl
- Glass storage containers with lids (for storing any finished product)
- Essential Oils
If you are planning to use essential oils in your homemade sugar scrub, please remember to use a dark glass container to store them and keep them out of direct sunlight.
5 Simple Homemade Sugar Scrub Recipes
Revitalizing Coffee Sugar Scrub

- 1 cup ground coffee
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp light olive oil
- 1 tbsp course sea salt
You will be amazed at the simplicity of this recipe. Just mix the ground coffee with sugar and sea salt. Add the olive oil and stir well. Apply the mixture to damp skin and massage in gently. Rinse with warm water when done. Avoid eyes.
Brown Banana Sugar Scrub
Don’t toss those nutrient-rich brown bananas. Put them in this scrub instead! It will refresh your face and even soothe irritated skin.
- 1 ripe banana
- 4 tablespoons of sugar
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
Smash the banana with a fork until smooth. Place the banana in a bowl and add the sugar and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth. Apply to damp skin and massage gently. Rinse with warm water when done. Avoid eyes.
Citrus Sugar Sugar Scrub

- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1/2 cup oil of your light olive oil
- 1 teaspoon of citrus zest. You may use lemon, lime, or orange. Or, use them all!
- 2-3 drops of essential oil (I really like lemon or grapefruit)
Mix your ingredients together until you have a smooth mixture. Massage the mixture onto damp skin. Rinse with warm water. Avoid the eyes.
Sweet Cornmeal Sugar Scrub
This scrub recipe is an old favorite! It uses common kitchen ingredients that are quite effective at soothing tired skin. Plus, honey is quite hydrating. Just try not to eat it!
- 1 cup sea salt
- 1 cup honey
- 1 cup of cornmeal
This recipe is so easy and literally takes seconds to make. Just mix your ingredients in a bowl and stir well. Apply to damp skin and allow to sit for about 15 minutes until dry. Rinse with warm water. Avoid eyes.
Awesome Avocado Sugar Scrub
Avocado is nutrient-rich and full of healthy oils. It is the perfect ingredient for this easy-to-make scrub.
- 1 medium avocado
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 tablespoon of honey
Peel your avocado and mash it up with a fork. Mix in the sugar and honey and continue to stir until smooth. Add a drop or two of olive oil if your mixture needs more moisture. Apply to damp skin and massage gently. Rinse with warm water. Avoid the eyes.
