Using a Homemade Lemon Body Scrub will not only make your skin glow, but you’ll feel refreshed and have a lingering scent of Lemon.  This simple body scrub is a great way to help exfoliate your skin and moisturize it at the same time.  The abrasive Epsom salt coupled with rich coconut oil is the perfect combination you need to make your skin luxuriant.  The bright lemon scent is a great way to energize and brighten your mood!

I'm a huge fan of homemade sugar scrubs, but this lemon body scrub is made with Epsom salt instead.  Epsom salt is a great way to increase your magnesium level, in either a detox bath or a nice salt scrub. Magnesium deficiency is extremely common and one of the main causes of headaches.  If you feel yourself craving chocolate, chances are you need to up your magnesium.  Use this scrub and a nice long soak (at least 20 minutes) in an epsom salt bath.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup Epsom Salt
  • ¼ Cup Coconut Oil
  • 10 Drops Lemon Essential Oil
  • Lemon Zest (Optional)
  • Airtight Storage Container

Directions:

  1. In a small mixing bowl, mix together Epsom salt and coconut oil until smooth.  If coconut oil is too stiff, microwave in 10 second increments until it is slightly melted and easier to mix.
  2. Add in lemon essential oil and lemon zest if desired.
  3. Mix until smooth and well coated
  4. Store in airtight glass container until ready to use.
  5. Apply to skin in shower or bath and rinse off with warm water as desired.

Making your own homemade beauty products like this lemon body scrub will be a great help in your budget.  Not only can you replace costly branded products, you'll find your skin looking and feeling healthier.  Lemon essential oil is a great way to help you wake up and a lemon body scrub is a great way to moisturize your skin while perking you up.  A hot bath or shower and a bit of this will give you renewed energy and make your skin feel soft and supple.

Make sure when making any product using essential oils that you store in glass containers.  Since essential oils can break down plastics, we always recommend that you grab a pretty glass jar for gifting this scrub over plastic jars.  Add some ribbon, a bow, decorative flower and a simple label with ingredients and you have a wonderful gift that is perfect for Teacher Appreciation, Mother's Day, or holiday gift giving.

Looking for a different scent?  Test out various essential oil blends until you find the smell that suits you best.  We love blending citrus scents like orange, tangerine, and lemon together.  Another great combination is lemon and lavender.  No matter what scent you choose to add to your homemade body scrub, you'll find that the essential oils will assist in detoxing and revitalizing your body.
