I love making simple homemade beauty products, and this pumpkin pie lip scrub is a favorite.  Since it is homemade, I make it in small batches so it doesn't spoil.  You can gift this easily, but make sure you let those you give it to know that it needs to be used fairly fast.

One of my least favorite things about winter (besides all the snow I have to shovel or pray someone else will do by the time we are up & moving for the day – thank you Dad!) is cracked lips. During warm weather, just making sure I drink enough water will keep my lips nice & soft. During the winter, it doesn't matter how much water I drink or lip balm I slather on – they end up cracking and so sore!  My poor boys inherited this lovely quirk from me too!

A few years ago, one of my sisters told me to brush my lips with a soft-bristled brush or use a lip scrub.  I can't thank her enough for that advice…if only I could remember which of them it was! Now, my lips feel nice year-round and I get to experiment with new flavors for my lip scrubs. Making your own lip scrub is SO easy you'll be wondering why you haven't been doing it for years!

What’s In This Pumpkin Pie Lip Scrub

Olive Oil:

I normally use coconut oil in my homemade recipes,  but *gasp* I was out the day I went to make this.  It turned out quite well, but I think I'll try coconut oil next time.

Pumpkin Puree:

All Pumpkin contains alpha and beta-hydroxy acids, so they are natural exfoliators that actually eat away dead skin cells!

Pumpkin Pie Spice:

You could skip this, but it leaves such a nice flavor on your lips when you are done!

Brown Sugar:

The brown sugar exfoliates gently, to remove dead skin without irritating your lips, plus the molasses in it works as a conditioner for your lips!

  1. I love that this is such a simple recipe. This will be a great quick and easy gift idea! Instead of wiping the scrub off I’ll probably be tempted to lick it off! LOL! Thank you for sharing this! 🙂

  2. I’m excited to try this, but I do have 2 questions. Room temp or refrigerated? And how long will it last/expiration date? Thanks!

    1. I keep it in the fridge because of the pumpkin puree. If you are using up oil or puree that expires in a couple weeks, I wouldn’t use it after that expiration date. Otherwise, it will keep up to 6 weeks.
