Homemade Lavender Body Butter

Whipped Lavender Homemade Body Butter

I love making a homemade body butter to use after a nice hot shower or bath.  The luxurious feeling of this on dry skin is perfect for helping you relax and settle in for the evening.  Lavender is such a wonderful smell that is ideal for calming and soothing aromatherapy at bedtime.

Supplies:

  • Stephenson Crystal OPC Foaming Bath Butter
  • Lavender Essential Oil
  • Lavender Buds (Optional)
  • Stand Mixer
  • Airtight Container

You can easily use any mixer, but I prefer a stand mixer when making homemade body butter since it frees up my hands to drop in things like the essential oils and lavender buds.  It's also nice to get an extra bit of whip that you can't get doing this by hand.

Directions:

Homemade Body Butter

Scoop your OPC Foaming Bath Butter into your stand mixer and whip it on full speed for about 1 minute. You’ll notice the foaming bath butter whips up super quickly.

Add in your lavender essential oil and your lavender buds if you chose to do this. Add the speed back up to 10 on your stand mixer and mix up for another 30 seconds.

Now using a spatula scoop your mixture into an airtight container for storage. Plastic jars are a popular option because of the potential for breakage in the bathroom, but essential oils can break down the plastic over time.  Whenever you are using essential oils in a homemade body/bath product, I recommend using glass.  Preferrably dark glass, like these blue jars and amber jars. Look for a thick-glass jar, because they are less likely to break if you do drop them, and store them away from the reach of little hands. If you use clear glass, make sure to store them in a dark place to maximize shelf life.

To use your whipped lavender homemade body butter, you can use this in the shower or bath.  Just wet your skin and apply this body butter all over your skin. It will foam off and rinse easily under hot water leaving behind a silky smooth skin.  Be careful as the oils can make your shower slick.  So, watch yourself to not slip.

This whipped lavender homemade body butter is a perfect way to pamper yourself, but even better when given to a friend or family member as a gift.  Dress it up with a cute bow, label, and a nice airtight container.  You can even add it to a gift bag or a gift basket along with some of our other homemade body products.

This lavender homemade body butter is not only a great way to nourish your skin, it is perfect for helping to soothe you after a long day.  Lavender essential oils are great for helping you relax and fall asleep easily.  It can even be used on your kids to help relax them after a bath at night for bedtime.
