This Homemade Lavender Body Scrub is one of my favorite easy products to make for myself at home. I love being able to make my own homemade products because I know exactly what’s in them and can include some of my favorite ingredients such as coconut oil, essential oils and fresh lavender buds. Knowing exactly what is going on my skin is important to me since I have sensitive skin and am prone to allergies. Being able to make my own body scrub in just a few minutes with items I already have on hand is a great way to save money, and be good to my body. An extra long hot shower with this scrub is like a mini spa treat!
Homemade Lavender Body Scrub
- 1 Cup Granulated Sugar
- 3 Tbsp Coconut Oil
- 1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
- 5 Drops Lavender Essential Oils
- Lavender Buds (Optional)
Grab a medium sized mixing bowl and pour in your cup of sugar.
Grab your coconut oil and place in a microwave safe bowl and place in the microwave for 30 seconds. Remove from the microwave and pour on top of your sugar.
Pour in your vanilla extract as well as your essential oil and using a spoon mix the body scrub together until it’s all blended nicely.
If you have chosen to add fresh lavender buds into your body scrub this is the time to do it. Add in about 1 tablespoon of lavender buds, and mix it all together.
Spoon your body scrub into an airtight container and keep in a cool place for up to 6 months. Enjoy.
One of my favorite parts about this great lavender body scrub is that it makes an excellent gift for friends, family, or kids teachers at school. When you pick up the ingredients needed to make a large batch, you find yourself able to make a wonderful thoughtful gift for pennies on the dollar of store bought brands. Simple glass jars can be found at most local dollar stores for $1-$3 each.
With a ribbon and simple printed label attached listing the ingredients, you have easily given your friends a gift that they will love. We use glass jars due to the essential oils and their tendency to break down plastics. While glass may be unsafe in a shower, it is safer than the plastic breaking down. Be careful and always make sure to handle your jar of lavender body scrub with care.
This is a great and easy DIY beauty recipe that will be a favorite way to help you relax in your evening bath or shower!
