National Hot Sauce Day, on January 22nd, is a fun day to celebrate the joy of hot sauce. It's the perfect day to enjoy the spicy, tangy, and sometimes sweet flavors that come from adding hot sauce to your food. And to discover new ones to try!

Hot sauces are used in many dishes to create an added layer of flavor. From eggs to sandwiches, or even steak, there are so many ways to use hot sauce. While chilies were limited to a few places centuries ago, almost every culture utilizes hot peppers and has its own hot sauces.

This year, our twins discovered Hot Ones on Hulu. If you haven't seen it, it's a 10 wing challenge. A celebrity is interviewed by the host, Sean Evans, while eating 10 hot wings. It starts off with a pretty mild sauce & slowly goes up until ending with the hottest sauce.

They are both a bit hot sauce obsessed & watching just made it worse. I caught them pausing it to write down the names of each hot sauce used, to ask if we could get all of them and try our own Hot Ones challenge at home.

So, in honor of National Hot Sauce Day…and to appease my 12-year-olds, here is a list of the best hot sauces I've found online! For more ideas, browse the condiment and international aisles at your local grocery stores.

Delicious Hot Sauces from Around the World

National Hot Sauce Day is a day to celebrate the joys of hot sauce and all of the wonderful food that can be made with it.

1

Hot Ones | The Classic Hot Sauce

Want a versatile hot sauce you can use on just about anything? This starter sauce on Hot Ones is recommended for burgers, eggs, pizza, even white rice!

2

La Victoria | Salsa Brava

Made with red chiles and jalapeno peppers, this sauce features the perfect blend of natural heat and is a go-to whether you’re using it to spice up a burrito or top a quesadilla!

The twins also developed a spicy mayo dip using Salsa Brava, while I enjoy it over scrambled eggs.

3

TorchBearer | Zombie Apocalypse

This hot sauce combines Ghost Peppers and Habaneros with a mix of spices, vegetables, vinegar, and oil to create this almost sweet yet terrifyingly hot sauce. It's a bit thicker than some sauces and is a favorite among those that love heat with a nice flavor.

4

Hot Ones | Los Calientes Hot Sauce

This one is a combo of serrano, habenaro, sweet fruit, and tart tomatillo. Reviewers recommend it for wings, tacos, or anything calling for a Cali-Mex kick.

5

Herdez | Avocado Hot Sauce

This new hot sauce can transform any meal from ordinary to exciting—eggs, sandwiches, pizza, salad—and it’s perfect for topping, drizzling, and pouring on almost any food. This will be your new “secret weapon” to enhance all of your favorite sauces, dips, and recipes!

6

Hot Ones | The Last Dab Apollo Hot Sauce

This is the only hot sauce made with the Apollo pepper, a hybrid of the Carolina Reaper and Pepper X with a Scoville rating of 3 million SHU.

The sauce is estimated to have 2.5 million+ SHU but does not have an official rating yet.

7

Lee Kum Kee | Sriracha Chili Sauce

Over the years, Sriracha has grown in popularity and this fiery hot paste has made its way from culinary kitchens in Asia to everyday tables!

8

Hot Ones | Season 16 Hot Sauce 10-Pack

If you're as big of a fan of the show as my kiddos, you should try doing the 10-wing challenge with your friends and family! I was able to find several of the complete season sets on Amazon or you can look on Heatonist for your favorite season's set.

9

African Dream Foods | Bird’s Eye Chilli Sauce

Bird’s Eye Chili Sauce is a rich, bright red sauce that packs some interesting heat!

10

Hot Ones Jr. | The Green

Have a little one you want to raise with a brave palate? This hot sauce combines kid-friendly ingredients for a sauce that will become your family's new favorite condiment...and no one needs to know they snuck some spinach in here too!

11

African Dream Foods | Ghost Peri-Peri Hot Sauce

This Ghost Peri-Peri is their take of a classic Peri-Peri with ghost peppers for extra heat. With a rich taste with a bit of sweetness & savory, you can use this one on everything from eggs to pasta!
