Ways To Conserve Water like these will change your utility budget and help impact the environment. Don't miss our super easy tips for implementing impacting changes in your home!

Knowing great ways to conserve water is great for your budget and for the environment.  With drought becoming a real issue in many areas, this is something everyone should be considering.  These simple changes can make a big impact on your water bill each month and the environment around you.

7 Ways To Conserve Water

1. Use a shower timer.
Find a shower timer that can be placed directly in the shower, so you can monitor how long you are in there. A 5-7 minute shower isn’t that hard to do, and by shortening your time you will save water and money.

2. Check all faucets for leaks.
When was the last time you checked every faucet in your house (inside and out) for leaks? Now is the time to do so and make any necessary repairs. No leak is too small, so if there is any sign of drops, now is the time to fix it.  You would be surprised at how this is one of the best ways to conserve water and see an immediate difference.

3. Wash only full loads of clothing.
This seems like a given, but so many people don’t do this if they are in a hurry! Don’t run the washing machine unless it is a full load. Doing so otherwise only wastes water. Make sure you are using your washing machine to its maximum capacity.

4. Wash only full loads of dishes.
Like the washing machine, there is no sense running the dishwasher unless it is full. Doing so only wastes water and energy. Take the time to load the machine completely and arrange dishes so you can fit the maximum amount in. Skip any extra rinses or extended rinses even if your appliance offers it. This just uses more water and isn’t typically necessary.

5. Turn off the sink when brushing your teeth.
Did you know that gallons of water can be wasted while you brush your teeth? Don’t let the water run while you brush your teeth, floss, or do other oral care routines. Instead, turn it off and turn it back on when you need to rinse. This is an important idea to stress with children as well, as they often tend to let the water run they are doing their morning routines.  You can even add a faucet aerator for just a few dollars as a great way to conserve water at your sinks.

6. Be mindful of water when cooking.
If you need to fill a pot with water, don’t let the faucet run for a minute before you get the pot ready. Be mindful when you are prepping food to only use the water you need. Remember, when you are done with a recipe that requires boiling you water, you can always allow the water to cool and pour it into your garden when done.

7. Add a brick to your toilet tank.
Placing a brick in the tank of your toilet takes up space, which means your tank will fill with less water between flushes. Brilliant! This is a great way to save water and money at the same time. Why not give it a try and see if it works for you?

Are you ready to start saving some money and the planet too? Give these great ways to conserve water a try and see what a difference they can make. Get the whole family on board with these ideas and you are sure to notice some positive changes!
