Scottish Ham & Lentil Soup

This Scottish Ham and Lentil Soup is perfect for chilly days with its hearty flavor and filling vegetables.   It's also easy on the wallet since most people have these ingredients in their pantry or refrigerator already!

It's perfect for a chilly fall evening or warming up on a cold winter day!

It's very filling without being too heavy. Perfect served with some crusty rolls, slathered in butter!

Ham & Lentil Soup Recipe

Smoke pork hocks Carrots Turnips Leeks Vegetable bouillon Ham soup base

Red lentils Diced ham Baby potatoes Fresh parsley Garlic powder Black pepper

INGREDIENTS

Cover the ham hocks with water.  Turn every 30 minutes. Remove the ham hocks and skim off any scum/fat layers.

Start Your Broth

Add the carrots and turnip.  Simmer until tender. Add chopped leeks and cook for another 10 minutes.

Add Your Veggies

Make stock using bouillon cubes & ham soup base.  Add stock to soup pot.

Add More Flavour

Add rinsed lentils & cook until soft. Add in the ham & potatoes.  Add parsley, garlic powder, and black pepper to taste.

Finishing Up

Garnish with fresh parsley. Serve with hard crusty rolls and real butter. Enjoy!
