I love all the fun recipes in the fall, especially anything that uses pumpkin. There is just something about pumpkin that brings in all the feel-goods about the fall and I can not help but make pumpkin recipes.

What do I need to make this Fall Cake?

  • Self-rising flour
  • Brown sugar
  • Eggs
  • Vegetable oil
  • Pumpkin puree
  • Ground cinnamon
  • All spice
  • Chopped walnuts (optional)

How to Make Pumpkin Bundt Cake

  1. In a large bowl combine flour, sugar and spices.
  2. In a separate bowl combine beaten eggs, vegetable oil and pumpkin puree.
  3. Mix well and add pumpkin mixture to flour mixture.
  4. Mix well.  Fold in chopped walnuts (if using).
  5. Place in a lightly greased baking tin.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 350 for approximately 25 minutes or until golden and baked through.

Should I use Canned or Fresh Pumpkin?

This pumpkin cake recipe uses canned pumpkin, but I substitute fresh pumpkin whenever I have it on hand! Feel free to use whichever you have on hand, either way, you will have a pumpkin cake that everyone will love!

It is very easy to throw this homemade pumpkin cake together. You can have all of the ingredients mixed up and ready to go in under 20 minutes. Then just pop it in the oven to bake and let the amazing pumpkin scent fill up your house!

How to Decorate Pumpkin Spice Cake

I enjoy playing with presentations, so sometimes I decorate with powdered sugar & some fall stencils.  You could also use a pumpkin shaped pan, orange frosting, and use candy corns and black licorice to make the pumpkin's face.

What Pan do I use for pumpkin cake?

You can use just about any shape pan for this pumpkin cake. Sometimes I use a 9-inch baking pan, however, I think it looks beautiful when you use a bundt cake pan. Then I like to sprinkle a little bit of powdered sugar on top! I mean really, look at the photos, isn't the cake just a beautiful cake that would be the perfect holiday dessert!

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups self-rising flour
  • 2 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 16 ounce can pumpkin puree
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon all spice
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts optional

  • Decorate with orange frosting, candy corn and licorice to form a pumpkin face or use stencils & powdered sugar.
