Chocolate Martinis

With decadent Godiva chocolate liqueur and your favorite vodka, this easy Chocolate Martini is a boozy dessert delight. Perfect for girls' night, holidays, or any time you're craving a special treat!

I'm not a big drinker, but when I decide to have a drink or two, I go one of two ways. I'm either doing shots or I'm drinking something sweet.  I don't want anything gross like beer & olives. Sangria is my go-to choice on this side of the pond, but I wanted to try something a little out of my comfort zone for the holiday season.

Enter the Chocolate Martini!

Delicious, easy to make and it tastes more like chocolate than alcohol. Exactly my kind of drink!

This is not your super basic Chocolate Martini either. I know there are some martinis that just mix vodka with chocolate liqueur but I wanted to take it up a notch.

If I'm going to indulge in a dessert drink, I'm going all the way.

Enter Creme de cacao, Godiva chocolate liqueur, and half and half. The three, in addition to the vodka, create a rich, creamy dessert martini.

Godiva Chocolate Martini

This Chocolate Martini is literally dessert in a glass – and one I plan to treat myself to frequently!

Chocolate Martini Ingredients

  • Godiva Chocolate Liqueur
  • Creme de Cacao
  • Vodka
  • Half and Half
  • Chocolate for garnish

How to Make Chocolate Martinis

Dust chilled martini glass with cocoa powder or pre-dip the glass in chocolate syrup. You do this ahead of time and keep them chilled in the freezer.

Add all ingredients to a cocktail mixer.

Shake well.

Pour into a chilled martini glass.

Sprinkle chocolate shavings on top or use a Hershey's Kiss for a garnish.

What kind of liquor is in a martini?

A traditional martini is made with vermouth and gin. However, many flavored martinis, especially sweet martinis, call for vodka with a flavored liqueur.

In this Chocolate Martini, for example, I use vodka with two types of liqueur. Vermouth in this recipe would not be the same!

Is Crème de Cacao the Same as Chocolate Liqueur?

Crème de Cacao is similar to chocolate liqueur but not quite the same. Crème de cacao is made from cacao beans and is chocolate-flavored, often with a hint of vanilla. Chocolate liqueur is more of a syrup and much sweeter than Crème de Cacao.

In this recipe, I like to use both of them for extra chocolate flavor without the sweetness of using just the chocolate liqueur.

Chocolate Martini Variations

Want to get a little creative with your chocolate martini? Have fun by mixing in other liqueurs and flavors like:

  • Coconut
  • Coffee
  • Berry or citrus
  • Vanilla or chocolate-flavored vodka
  • Mint
