Yes, a great flavor can be had in a healthy detox smoothie.  Using vanilla almond milk in your smoothie is a healthy but still delicious way to create a breakfast drink everyone in your family will love, and you won't feel any guilt serving. Vanilla Almond Milk Smoothie Recipe

As you will see below, the recipe for this almond milk smoothie is super easy.  You probably already have these ingredients on hand!  It is especially nice to have an alternative that is a dairy-free smoothie everyone in your home can enjoy without fear of dietary restrictions being a problem.

Cut apples, bananas, strawberries, kale, and a pitcher of almond milk on a counter.

Ingredients for Skinny by Summer Vanilla Almond Milk Smoothie:

1 Apple cut up
A large handful of Kale (about a cup)
1 Banana
1 cup of Strawberries (I like to use frozen for a thicker, colder smoothie)
1/4 to 1 Cup Vanilla Almond Milk (depending on how thick you want it )

Directions for Skinny by Summer Vanilla Almond Milk Smoothie:

Chop all ingredients up and toss into blender.

Before you start blending add the Almond Milk. Garnish with strawberries and enjoy! This smoothie helps support the liver, allowing your body to detox naturally, and jumpstarts your metabolism.

Garnish with strawberries and enjoy!

I recommend using a Vitamix, Blendtec, or Ninja blender when making smoothies on a regular basis.  Especially if you choose to add frozen fruit or ice into the mix.  A traditional blender will tend to have a bit of trouble getting that smooth texture you want in your detox smoothies!

Can I Freeze This Smoothie?

One of my favorite things to do when making a vanilla almond milk smoothie is to prep bags in the freezer ahead of time.  This makes it a lot easier to get up, blend, and go on busy days.  Simply add everything except the liquid (almond milk) to a baggie, and label.  Stick in the freezer for up to a month at a time.  They are good for longer, but I find that frozen fruit in baggies tends to get freezer burned faster, so I prefer to make these no more than a month in advance.

Why is This Smoothie Healthy?

This smoothie, in particular, is said to help support your liver and boost your metabolism.  Most smoothies are beneficial in that they pack a lot of nutrients in a small package.  For parents wanting to get more vegetables into their children's diets, this is a perfect solution.

Hiding veggies in the sweetness of fruit and healthy almond milk are so much easier than the fight for getting them to eat broccoli.  If you have picky eaters in your home, you might want to also check out our tips on Raising Kids that Aren't Picky Eaters.
