Creamsicle Vanilla Orange Smoothie Recipe

I have always loved orange smoothie recipes, but this Creamsicle version is just the right treat to satisfy in the summer heat.  I love that it is a healthier version of one of my favorite dessert treats, and of course, the kids love that I am giving them a “milkshake”.

Making an orange creamsical smoothie

To get started on this recipe, you'll need to peel the clementine and make sure there aren't any seeds inside it.  Nobody wants to have seeds in their drink.  You'll place your orange pieces into your blender first to create this vanilla orange smoothie recipe.

Next add in your frozen fruit (you can rinse in warm water first if you feel the need to soften them a bit). We use frozen peaches or mango, but you can really use any frozen fruit.  You could even make frozen cubes of the juice you are using to help enhance that orange flavor.  Pour in your liquids next.  We use orange juice, coconut water, or coconut milk most often in this orange smoothie.  Just use whatever you prefer.  You could even use almond milk or pineapple juice!

Blend the ingredients on high in 30-second increments until desired consistency.  If you like a thinner smoothie consistency, you can simply add a bit more of your chosen liquid.  We prefer our creamsicle vanilla orange smoothie to be thicker like a milkshake.

This is an excellent quick breakfast smoothie that goes well alongside your favorite oatmeal, toast or bagel.  If you can allow dairy in your diet, adding a bit of yogurt to this can make it a bit heartier and add a creamy texture some love.  This is a great morning drink choice in the cold and flu season since it is so rich in Vitamin C.  Add in a spoon of chia seeds, nutritional yeast flakes or even hemp hearts to increase the health benefits of this smoothie.

This creamsicle vanilla orange smoothie recipe is the perfect way to get some extra vitamins into your kids' diets while giving them a special treat they will love!
