Along with money-saving goals for the year, you may want to consider shopping early in the year for healthy food items and other cool things to buy that are needed year-round.  There are many things on sale during this month, that are ideal for stocking up on in the month of January. My list below is a great place to begin when you plan your money-saving stock up purchases for the month of January.

Health Foods and Exercise Equipment  

Along with those resolutions to save money many make the resolutions to lose weight. This means that January is the perfect time to stock up on diet foods as well as exercise equipment.  Throughout the money of January, you'll find diet foods and supplements on sale everywhere.  Exercise equipment, clothing, and shoes are also on the list of things to watch for deals.

Food & Supplements to Buy

• Almond flour, coconut flour, coconut sugar, hemp hearts, flax seed, and chia seeds
• Vitamins, supplements, and essential oils
• Meal replacement drinks, shelf-stable meal replacement bars, beef jerky, dried fruits

Exercise & Fitness Items on Sale

• Workout clothing and running shoes
• Treadmills, elliptical machines, and weights or exercise equipment for your home
• Exercise DVD's, gym memberships, and sports equipment.

Game Day Supplies

The big famous Game Day is coming up the end of January or early February each year.  That means that tailgating supplies will be marked down this month too. This includes all of the grocery items you want and need for those parties, but also tons of other supplies for the party itself.  Other things you may want to consider stocking up on that I think are super cool things to buy in January are the electronics on sale around the big game day events.

Seasonal Produce

One of my favorite things to stock up on in January is actually seasonal produce.  While most people think about produce being a summer-only supply, the are many things that have lower prices in the winter months.  Some items you can or dehydrate.  Other items you'll simply want to grab while on sale and enjoy as much as possible.  Our favorites include oranges, pears, grapefruit, tangerines, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, celery, chard, collards, and kale.

Christmas Clearance 

Christmas clearance is in full swing this month which means you can often score as much as 90% off items like Christmas décor, stockings, wrapping paper and more. Grab these items now and put them up until next Christmas. Another after Christmas sale to watch for is Christmas themed foods. Items like cookie dough, cookies, marshmallows, and candy will all be included in the after-season markdowns. These items are often the ones you want to use right away, but the price is a must-buy!

Small Kitchen Appliances 

If you’re in need of small kitchen appliances, now is the time to purchase them. Stores are looking to make room for newer models and will often put the ones they have in stock on sale with deep discounts. They also tend to have overstock from special Christmas stock that they discount to get off their shelves.  It's a great time to pick up items like toasters, blenders, food processors, and mixers.
